If you already have plans and you know how you are going to go about building your house, you may find yourself in the position where your lending institution is asking for a certificate on completion.

You therefore either need to employ an NHBC registered contractor to carry out all of the work, or you need to employ an architect to inspect the work during the construction stages, and to issue a certificate on completion.
